Calvin McDonald, president and chief executive officer of Sears Canada, will be the new president and CEO of Sephora Americas, effective Jan. 1st.

McDonald will succeed David Suliteanu, who will return to Kendo Brands, part of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

McDonald joined Sephora in July 2000, and has since then become known for cross-label merchandising and brand-building innovation – making the chain the leading beauty retailer it is today. His accomplishments include tailoring the product mix, fine-tuning the store’s open-sell format, and launching the Sephora Insider loyalty program.

Sephora Americas now has 388 freestanding stores and 480 other units inside Penney’s. That store count includes two units in Mexico and one in Brazil.

Both Sephora Americas and Kendo will report to Christopher de Lapuente, ceo of Sephora Global and a member of the executive committee of LVMH.
